Itinerary for 5 days Marangu route: A staff member from Afroglacier Tours will greet you at airport and
drive you to your Hotel or Lodge. At your Hotel the Tour guide who will guide
you to the mountain will meet you for breafing and to make sure you have all
the required mountain gears.

Day1: FROM THE HOTEL-TO MARANGU GATE-TO MANDARA HUT.

After breakfast, the drive will take you to Marangu gate where you will do
registrations and begin your trek. The hike is through Afromontane forest to
Mandara huts. Enjoy the towering Eucalyptus trees, birds and Colobus monkeys.

Elevation at Mandara huts is 8875feet.

Hiking hours:3-4 hours.

Day 2: MANDARA HUT TO HOROMBO HUTS.

After a short hike you leave the glades of the rain forest and follow an
ascending path to the open Moorland zone to Horombo huts. Enjoy the breath
taking views of Mawenzi and Kibo. Look for Giant lobelias and Groundsels.

Elevation:12,200feet

Hiking time:5-6 hours.

Day 3: HOROMBO HUT TO KIBO HUT.

Trek passes the last water point through the saddle of Kilimanjaro between the
peaks of Kibo and Mawenzi. Vegetation begins to dissapear. At Kibo hut take
early dinner, rest and prepare for summit attempt at midnight.

Elevation at Kibo huts is 15,500feet

Hiking time:5-6 hours.

Day 4: KIBO HUT-SUMMIT,DOWN TO HOROMBO HUT.

The hike to summit starts at midnight; Enjoy unbelievable views at every turn
and the stunning sunrise on your way while struggling to reach Gilman's point
at the rim of the mountain. The hike goes on to stella point while overlooking
the Kilimanjaro crater and its Glaciers. Celebrate your hard work at Uhuru
point, the highest point in Africa...Take quick pictures to show your friends
and family. Start to trek down to Kibo hut where you will have your lunch and
short break before you continue your way down to Horombo huts.

Day 5: HOROMBO HUT TO MARANGU GATE/ DEPATURE DAY.

After breakfast you will start descending down through Moorland to Mandara hut.
Continue descending through Afromontane forest to Marangu gate. Sign out.
Afroglacier Tours vehicle will meet you at the gate to drive you to your Hotel.
